The effectiveness of taking ciprofloxacin for pneumonia largely depends on the particular bacterial strain causing the ailment. Ciprofloxacin, commonly called Cipro®, belongs to the fluoroquinolone group of antibiotics, which are frequently used to treat respiratory infections because of the wide range of bacterial organisms they destroy. Quinolones are not effective against fungal or viral infections, however. Ciprofloxacin can produce a number of side effects and has been associated with an increased risk of tendinitis or tendon rupture. According to research, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae cause the majority of pneumonia cases. Studies indicate that ciprofloxacin is only effective against these bacterial strains if they are not penicillin or methicillin resistant. It is effective, however, against many other bacteria causing pneumonias, including Haemophilius influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

I'm comfortable enough in my own skin to live with it if there isn't a safe / affordable alternative. I hear about the side effects of propecia/rogaine which absolutely freak me out. With all the bad news out there about those two, are there any good alternatives? Man that's some serious shit, I guess I could afford it but that's a big deal and I would need to do it within the next ~year before anyone really starts to notice. Main worries are 1) it SUCKS to go bald young, 2) will get laid less (my perception at least, especially if i allow this to affect my confidence), 3) don't know how it could affect my career advancement (you hear the studies about how men with hear are more successful though i'm sure most of that is bs and there are so many other factors involved) and 4) i have an ugly shaped head, nicely covered up by my hair...
